I earned my BFA in painting, drawing, and printmaking from UNCG in 1986. After working in the bookstore and screen–printing business for 10 years, I started building handcrafted furniture. In addition to building custom work for clients and interior designers locally and nationally, I have sold work in galleries, at craft shows, through mail–order catalogs, and online. Shows I have been juried into include the American Craft Council shows, the Westchester Fine Craft Show, and the 2012 Smithsonian Craft Show, among many other smaller shows on the east coast. I am an exhibiting member of two NC craft guilds, Piedmont Craftsmen based in Winston–Salem and Carolina Designer Craftsmen based in Raleigh.

My work has changed a lot over the years, from more reproduction–oriented traditional pieces, to more delicate styles, to eventually finding my own design voice, which references traditional forms and limits embellishment details. I’ve begun to play with more subtle wood colors and tones and textures and to simplify the lines–more solid forms with one ornate detail, often carved or inlaid. And most recently, I’ve tried to combine the two parts of my creative output by incorporating paintings into furniture pieces.
